The Purple Potato

Today is Aug 17, 2010 and pictured below was our evening meal. We were in a hurry; so, we settled on a burger.


The baked beans are Bush's Best Country Style. We make our own Kosher dills. We were fresh out of decent sized tomatoes; so, we had to make do with some small ones. Vidalia onion supports the tomato. On the bottom bun half we placed a glob of Hellman's Mayonaise before adding the burger patty. During the 2004 Presidential campaign we stopped using Heinz products and switched to Hunt's Ketchup - on the burger and under the lettuce.

The meal was followed by a dessert of  400 mg Magnesium Malate, 500 mg of Curcumin, 250 mg of Quercetin, 200 mg of High Gamma Tocopherol, topped off with 5000 I.U.'s of vitamin D3.

We watch for sales on whole sirloin tips, bottom rounds, top rounds and have the meat department of our grocery cut most of the fat off before grinding it for us. Eight or nine pounds of our custom ground beef is the usual purchase. At home we make 5 or 6 ounce balls of the beef flattening them one at a time on a piece of plastic wrap before wrapping. We usually put two in each quart size freezer zip lock bag and freeze for the future.
